How to register a visa	Migration card

VISA REGISTRATION

All foreign citizens arriving to the territory of the Russian Federation must register their visas within 3 (three) working days upon arrival, if the duration of their stay in Russia does not exceed 3 working days.

Multiple-entry visa con be registered for a period up to 6 (six) months. To prolong the registration one must have a new departure/arrival stamp in the passport or migration card.

Absence of the registration will not allow you to carry out some legal activities; it can also lead to penalties and your detention by Militia (police).

Your visa is registered if you have a special rectangular stamp in your passport or migration card. The stamp shall contain the following information:

• validity period and registration date;
• registration number, name of the registering body and signature of the officer.

If you stay in the hotel, then the hotel administration will register your visa for the period of your stay in the hotel.

The requirements of the local authorities for obtaining a registration may differ in different regions of the Russian Federation.

To register your visa in Moscow one shall provide the following documents:

• Application from the organization that has invited you (important: it must be the same organization which is indicated in the visa);
• Receipt form the bank (indicating that you have paid the State registration fee);
• Your passport with visa and migration card;
• Application for registration addressed to the Moscow Department of the Federal Migration Service (UFMS of Moscow; see FMS_Form.PDF, 30 kb);
• Registration letter from Regional Exploitation Department (it shall be signed by all people living at the premise of registration, who are older than 14 years old (REU_Letter.PDF, 18 kb).

The registration procedure at Federal Migration Service in Moscow normally takes 5 (five) business days; for this reason please make a copy of your passport, visa and migration card and have them always with you.

Registration of your visa later than 3 (three) days upon arrival to Russia will lead to penalties, that is why we recommend you not to delay the registration.
